Meet the Monstrous SCP-3000: Anantashesha, The Deep Sea Serpent That's Got You Hooked
Deep in the darkest depths of the ocean, lies a creature of unimaginable horror, hidden from the prying eyes of human onlookers. But what secrets lie within the mysteries of this abomination, and what does it say about the unknown creatures lurking beneath the waves?
Anantashesha, also known as the "Endless Destruction" is a sea serpent described as an endless, coiled-like creature with an indeterminate length. Estimated to be thousands of feet in length, with some estimates reaching an impossible 20000 feet, this phenomenon is shrouded in mystery and speculation.
It was first discovered by a team of researchers in 2001, aboard the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Alvin submersible. Led by the renowned oceanographer Dr. Robert Ballard, said to have discovered the wreckage of the TITANIC, it's said that his team entered the deepest parts of the Mariana Trench to explore the deepest reaches of the ocean.
Upon return, Dr Ballard described an unearthly Figure ranging from 500 to 2000 in length, jutting out of the side of the ship they were inside, its details yet unwritten. Dr Robert Ballard further elaborated, that: "[this creature] eclipsed all comprehension. I can speak to its velocity in possibly reaching over two hundred miles an hour, creating one of the largest whirlpools in recorded history." This fevered hype of possibility became a basis for much of the raised speculation.
